Upper trough axis will swing eastwards across the British Isles on Tuesday, clearing to the North Sea by evening. The associated cool mid-levels atop diurnally-heated land will help generate a few hundred J/kg CAPE. A few scattered showers are likely, with deep enough convection in E / NE England and E Scotland for a few sporadic lightning strikes. Main inhibiting factor is a slightly warmer nose at 700mb, which may limit the depth of convective cloud perhaps.
