Just to the south of the frontal boundary straddling N / NW Scotland, there may be a small window of a few hours during the second half of Saturday afternoon where low-level convergence and orographic forcing may combine to allow an isolated heavy shower to develop over NE Scotland. A few isolated lightning strikes may be possible as a result given the reasonably sheared environment (despite weak instability), but much of this will depend on the extent of the cloud cover associated with the aforementioned front.

Late on Saturday night (during the early hours of Sunday) some embedded elevated convection may occur along the eastern edge of the frontal zone, moving northeastwards across the Hebrides. A few isolated lightning strikes may be possible, though in general instability is rather weak.
