On Wednesday morning, elevated thunderstorms will likely be ongoing across the northern half of Scotland, as a pronounced shortwave continues to destabilise the instability plume across northern and eastern Britain. Any thunderstorms will continue to clear northwards to the Northern Isles. A few isolated elevated showers/thunderstorms will also be possible over East Anglia and the far southeast early in the morning, but these will clear by mid-morning. In general, most lightning activity will have ceased by 12z, but a few isolated showers continue to be possible over northern Scotland into the afternoon which may produce a few isolated lightning strikes.

A few scattered showers are possible in western Ireland during Wednesday daytime, with a low risk of lightning. Developing frontal rain here through Wednesday night as an Atlantic front arrives may also pose the risk of an isolated lightning strike from any embedded elevated convection.
