An old upper low will drift slowly eastwards from Scotland to Scandinavia during Saturday, allowing a temporary window of ridging to develop from the west - generally suppressing much in the way of deep convection and therefore the risk of lightning during Saturday daytime is considered very low.
However, on Saturday evening and night the next frontal system will be approaching from the Atlantic, with potential for some embedded deep convection developing behind the cold front, in close proximity to the low centre. A few isolated lightning strikes may occur during the early hours of Sunday, primarily Irish Sea / Celtic Sea / Wales / SW England.
