As the upper ridge across the British Isles gradually recedes to the Continent on Wednesday, this in combination with an upper trough advancing from Iberia will encourage advection of a (relatively) higher ThetaW airmass across Biscay towards SW Britain on Wednesday night. As profiles become cooler and moister aloft, while a warm nose develops between 850-950mb, increasing elevated instability will evolve over the Channel Islands and later towards SW England. While the magnitude of instability will be relatively weak, showery bursts of rain developing over the LOW threat area during the early hours of Thursday could produce a few lightning strikes locally.
