Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Sat 18 Apr 2020 - 05:59 UTC Sun 19 Apr 2020

ISSUED 20:24 UTC Fri 17 Apr 2020

ISSUED BY: Dan

Showery outbreaks of rain will affect England, Wales and Ireland during Saturday. Residual (weak) elevated instability will still be present across SE England and East Anglia on Saturday morning, and so here some embedded elevated convection is possible and a few isolated lightning strikes are not ruled out - but in general, little activity is expected.

By the afternoon, if any sunny spells can develop across S / SW England, instability may increase here with a coupled hundred J/kg CAPE. There is a chance of a few isolated showers developing, particularly W Devon / W Cornwall - despite backed low-level winds, shear will be fairly weak due to relatively light winds even at height but the odd isolated lightning strike is possible.
