Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Tue 07 Jul 2020 - 05:59 UTC Wed 08 Jul 2020

ISSUED 20:08 UTC Mon 06 Jul 2020

ISSUED BY: Dan

A strong westerly flow aloft will develop across the British Isles on Tuesday, advecting a warm, moist airmass at mid/upper levels and consequently extensive cloud and outbreaks of rain over Ireland, England and Wales. Farther north, a minor shortwave / PV strip will slide eastwards across Scotland during the day, coinciding with diurnal heating. Scattered showers are likely here, although the depth of convection will be somewhat restricted (ELTs around -10C) and so the risk of lightning is considered rather low.
