A well developed, vertically stacked low will persist to the north of Scotland with an upper trough axis extending over northern Scotland.
Despite this set-up convective parameters are generally unimpressive. Instability is limited, perhaps even more so on Friday than previous days (less than 200 J/kg of CAPE), and shear values are also less than the last few days, although low level shear increases across Scotland during the afternoon hours.
Scattered showers will spread eastwards across much of Ireland and northern and western Scotland and thus there will be a low-end risk of a few isolated lightning strikes in this area.
