A broad west/southwesterly flow aloft covers the British Isles on Wednesday, with an occlusion tracking eastwards across Scotland and Ireland during the afternoon and evening hours. This will provide a band of showery rain with perhaps some embedded line convection capable of producing locally squally winds. The greatest risk of isolated lightning (albeit still quite low in a given location) will once again be towards the Outer Hebrides and up to Shetland where the best instability will exist. Deep convection may ease for a time during the night, but will likely return towards western coasts at the end of the night.
