Scattered showers on Saturday morning, primarily in northern and western areas, will gradually weaken through the day as ridging temporarily builds from the west. As a result, convection will likely be too shallow for any lightning. Frontal rain will arrive from the Atlantic during the afternoon, and by Saturday evening/night a cold front with embedded line segments will affect NW Ireland and W Scotland before weakening as it moves further inland - but initially this could produce some notably squally winds and small hail. An isolated tornado may also be possible. Scattered showers will then follow in the post-frontal environment into W Scotland during the early hours of Sunday, but the depth of convection will likely be too shallow for much in the way of lightning activity.
