Upper ridging slowly builds from the west during Wednesday, but with some residual cool air aloft across Britain. Diurnal heating will yield 100-300 J/kg CAPE, and scattered showers are likely to develop in close proximity to an old occlusion draped from western Scotland through northern England towards East Anglia, some lasting well into the evening hours. A few isolated lightning strikes may occur, but overall the risk is lower than previous days due to slightly shallower convection and weaker CAPE.
