An upper ridge over Ireland and southern and western Britain will gradually weaken on Wednesday, with an upper low approaching from the Atlantic. This will drift eastwards across Ireland on Wednesday night, associated with showery outbreaks of rain. Given a few hundred J/kg CAPE (this most likely rooted from the ~800mb level), a few lightning strikes may be possible - although rather moist profiles will limit this risk somewhat.
