Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Fri 20 Aug 2021 - 05:59 UTC Sat 21 Aug 2021

ISSUED 07:42 UTC Fri 20 Aug 2021

ISSUED BY: Dan

Pulses of showery rain running northwards across Ireland and W Scotland on Friday, and overnight close to SW England and W Wales, could produce a few isolated lightning strikes - the risk appears greatest in N + W Ireland on Friday daytime, aided by low-level convergence in an environment with reasonable shear. However, profiles appear rather moist with a warm bulge at ~850mb that could hinder surface-based convection (but foster elevated convection).
