Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Fri 04 Feb 2022 - 05:59 UTC Sat 05 Feb 2022

ISSUED 07:19 UTC Fri 04 Feb 2022

ISSUED BY: Dan

A cold front, with embedded line convection, will clear southeastwards on Friday morning, leaving a cold northwesterly flow in its wake. A substantial cold pool aloft, with an impressively low tropopause, will track eastwards during the day across central/northern Britain, creating an unstable environment with numerous showers developing in response to SSTs and advecting inland, but also the potential for some land-based convection as well. A few sporadic lightning strikes will be possible just about anywhere, but the risk is rather low in any one location.
