Storm Eunice will track across southern Ireland and central Britain, before exiting to the North Sea on Friday afternoon. The cold front may yield some shallow line convection with locally enhanced wind gusts. Close to the centre of Eunice, primarily over the Irish Sea and into northern England, a few sporadic lightning strikes may occur during the morning/midday hours. Heavy snow across Scotland, especially southern and eastern parts, and the associated large concentration of solid precipitation, could produce a few odd lightning strikes. Behind Eunice, in a brisk northwesterly flow heavy showers will feed across Ireland and into Wales and southwest England, and could produce a few isolated lightning strikes, along with squally gusts of wind. Given the strongly-sheared environment some of these may exhibit some rotation, but the rather strong low-level flow and fairly straight hodographs may inhibit the tornado risk somewhat.
