Low pressure to the north of Scotland and a minor shortwave will pass through northern Britain during the day on Sunday and steeping lapse rates will help to trigger scattered showers across Scotland, northern England and northern parts of Ireland.
A small amount of CAPE (300-400J/kg) will develop during the afternoon, mainly across eastern Scotland. However limited moisture and weak shear will limit the depth of convection, thus making the lightning risk quite small, and probably highest across eastern parts of Scotland and perhaps northeastern England later in the day.
A broad ridge will begin to build in from the west towards the end of the day.
