Heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms will likely be ongoing on Thursday morning in association with a destabilising >18C 850hPa Theta-W plume and a shortwave running northeastwards. Given many hours of convection during the night, the atmosphere will become increasingly worked over and will likely result in lightning activity reducing through the morning. Nonetheless, some further heavy rain is likely across East Anglia and SE England for a time, with locally high rainfall totals and the risk of surface water flooding. It will remain humid in these areas through much of the day, despite lower temperatures, until the surface cold front moves through later in the day.
